I want THAT one...

Here's a Little Britain pic on the go, hopefully you can recognise that it's Lou and Andy! I'm also working on a picture of Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris which should be a bit of fun when it's done, maybe I'll send it to the good Prof. for a chuckle :)

Well I'm working on a commission piece for a friend right now which is going well, haven't had the time to continue with the Rocky pic for the competition but I hope to get back to it and finish it soon. Also I really need to do a couple more new pieces to go in the local shop, I was thinking Lou and Andy from Little Britain would be a winner! Will post that when I get going.

Advertising *gulp*

Thanks to a very very kind person I'm getting an ad in Creative Review magazine next month - I put it together in a bit of a rush today but it looks ok. Just wanted to get the name there, the briefest of explanations and as many pics as poss:

I wonder what response I'll get, if any? It's pretty exciting!

New dog!

We got our second dog on Friday, he's called Darwin - here's a pic of him with Mace (our first dog) looking a bit sheepish about the whole thing behind him:

Here are my first sketched for the MAD magazine 'Rocky Balboa' competition:

Good news today - a local art shop in a big shopping centre is taking a few prints from me to try and sell, let's hope they fly off the shelves! I guess Xmas is the time to do it so fingers crossed...

At the bottom of the learning curve...

The forum of the National Caricaturist Network now has a monthly competition and I'm going to enter it for November. The project is to make a MAD magazine cover with the new Sylvester Stallone movie "Rocky Balboa" as the theme. I'll have to come up with some cover ideas as sketches and submit them, then work them up bit by bit to a final piece, all the while receiving feedback from some world class caricature artists as to what I'm doing right or wrong. Daunting! Still, hopefully it'll be a really good learning experience for me and I hope I'll end up with a seriously good portfolio piece at the end of the month!

I'll post all the sketches and progression of work here through the month.

Wish me luck!

Latest pics

Here are my two latest caricatures - Jon Stewart and Johnny Depp:

First things first...

I'll probably use this blog to post my caricature work as that's my main focus at the moment, and possibly some atheist/skeptic rantings from time to time (will try to keep that to a bare minimum).

I've been doing caricatures for around 18 months or so now, and here's my website which has most of my work on it:

All the best,
